I must confess that this may be a case of heart overruling the head but on a couple of occasions this season I’ve seen glimpses of Tom McGuinness’ Coffeemeanscoffee going well without producing the final goods. A fourth a handful of starts back was his best performance this term and it came over course and distance. A return to this trip and venue are a positive move by connections especially as he now returns off his last winning mark.
Although there’s clearly more obvious horses to side with here I can’t shake off the fact I feel he has a winning run in the locker and I’m hoping today is the day he goes much closer.

The fifth race on the card at Ayr this Tuesday looks an ultra-competitive seven furlong handicap where there’s a mix of promising three year olds and accomplished handicappers.
The youngsters are headed by Wobwobwob and Hugo Palmer’s Dancing To Win. The Ben Curtis ridden runner is the clear favourite but I’m happy to take her on after a disappointing performance at Newmarket and has to improve now competing at this level. Perhaps it’s foolish to dismiss her considering the powerhouse yard she represents but other, more experienced runners look a better option for punters.
A quintet of former course victors hold serious claims and I find myself opting for Tim Easterby’s True Blue Moon. The six year old has been poor of late however he now resides on a very very attractive mark. A rating that is 6lbs below his last victory and also 6lbs lower than when he won here this time last year. What’s also interesting is that Duran Fentiman is back onboard after not riding the horse for its last two starts. With Fentiman the only jockey to ride the horse to victory in the UK to see him back in the saddle is an added boost and at double figure odds looks way too overpriced.
