RACE PREVIEWS & TIPS (MONDAY)

14:20 Wolverhampton This probably revolves around Nimr and whether he can get a decent lead into the race having rather pulled away his chance when slightly disappointing at Newcastle the last day. A winner here already and with little doubt about his stamina at the trip Richard Fahey’s lightly raced 4 year old looks likely to have a profitable season ahead and he is clearly the one to beat today. Shyron is closely matched with Nimr on their running at Newcastle and his riders 7lbs claim gives him every chance of again finishing upsides that rival today, there is little doubt he lacks the scope Nimr but he shouldn’t be five times the price of him today and the each way players look likely to try and latch on. Russian Soul has a bad habit of being slowly away and blew many a chance when doing just that when trained in Ireland by Michael Halford. Now in the hands of Jamie Osbourne the handicapper has hardly been harsh with him mark wise and market confidence would make him very interesting given the yards decent form. Captain Dion has won three of his last six and would take a lot of beating if this was over 6f, an in depth look at his form over this extra furlong offers very little hope however and it would take a brave man to back him at short odds against rivals proven at the trip. Swiss Cross and Joey’s Destiny have claims if firing but a chance will be taken on Shyron making it into the places at a venue he’s proven at and at a price that offers value. SHYRON (E/W if 9/2+) – NAP

16:35 Sedgefield Chestnut Ben has been most disappointing since winning off a 13lbs higher mark in Class3 company last February and will have to lump a big weight if he is to return to the winners enclosure today. Quite what has gone wrong with Peter Winks veteran is open to debate but it would be very concerning if he failed to take advantage of this bunch and a final chance is afforded on him doing so. Duhallowcountry receives plenty of weight from the selection and often runs his race, todays conditions should be fine for him but he rarely wins and would only make appeal if his price offered each way value. Clan Chief, Roxyfet and Captain Sharpe have nice enough weights and could play major parts but the favourite would have to misfire badly for anything to take advantage. CHESTNUT BEN (WIN)
