14:50 Southwell
Any low grade handicap can be utterly unpredictable and considering the fact we’re looking to predict the outcome it may seem odd to find our selection residing in a class 6 contest on the all-weather at Southwell however we hope to have unearthed a small gem in the form of course and distance victor Archimedes. At this level horses often go through long losing runs before popping up with an unexpected success and I’m hoping that’s exactly what Archimedes is going to do this afternoon. The five year old has raced at this venue a staggering 19 times, claiming 4 wins and a place in total. It’s very interesting to know that these five promising outcomes all came over today’s five furlong trip, four of which came in today’s class six company and four when the horse carried more weight. Trainer David Griffiths may not be having the best run but everything seems to point towards a promising result for his runner.
Any horse that trainers Scott Dixon or Derek Shaw send to Southwell deserve respect even if they haven’t done much to note of late and fellow course and distance winner Divine Call is bound to be on the scene also however Archimedes seems to be the type set to bounce back with an overdue trip to the winners enclosure.
