PADDOCKS PATENT (MONDAY)
Bogsnog is starting to look seriously well handicapped on the best of his old form and he ran well again over the course and distance just seven days ago. He was beaten only a length in the end by Ziggy’s Star and if arriving here in similar form, he will be hard to keep out of the frame.
Believe It is likely to prove popular given the manner of his win over the course and distance last time. He sneaks in at the foot of the handicap here and Richard Hughes has called upon Chris Kelly to make use of his seven pound claim. The four year old has thrived since joining his new handler and he looks a massive threat. Sewn Up wasn’t too far behind Bogsnog here last time and this regular visitor to Dunstall Park could well make the frame once again.
Shane Gray keeps the ride on Bogsnog following their fine effort last last time and it wouldn’t be the biggest of shocks if Kristin Stubbs managed to get a fourth course win out of this six year old.
Bogsnog (E/W if 9/2+)
War Glory ran extremely well over this course and distance on what was his racecourse debut. That run came just prior to the Christmas break and with a few weeks behind him in order to recover it would be of little surprise to see him get off the mark at the second attempt. Sean Levey keeps the ride on the Richard Hannon runner and they look the combination to beat.
Pirate’s Treasure arguably has the most experience coming into this race. He was far from disgraced on his first ever run at this track when placed behind Sky Ship in November. The switch to polytrack at Kempton last time may not have been to his liking and it is no surprise to see connections returning. Jamie Spencer is a notable jockey booking and they look the biggest threat to the selection. Joyful Day certainly showed more spark on his his second run for Robert Cowell. If he can continue his progression he too can get involved.
Richard Hannon has made an excellent start to the new year and with natural progression War Glory is expected to do the business for an in form team.
War Glory (WIN)
Exalted only ran five days ago over this course and distance and it was in a slightly more competitive event than this. Provided he is none the worse for that outing, he ought to be capable of going very close once again. He has only had a handful of starts and he is already proven around the track.
Spirit Of Gondree is a dual course and distance winner who is starting to once again come to hand. Milton Bradley has his runners in decent form and this eight year old looks to have live each way claims. Gracious George is beginning to look dangerously well handicapped at present and is another with previous course and distance winning form. Connections have booked Adam Kirby to ride for the first time and he could well prove to be the main danger.
Exalted is still far from exposed and ultimately he should be open to further progression. Martin Lane takes the reins for the first time and they should be competitive off this sort of mark.
Exalted (E/W if 9/2+)
